How to create a visual transcript
Useful for presentations and lectures
Keep charts and slides beside the explanation, revisit a tutorial step, or prepare a specific part of a long video for an assistant.
1. Open a saved transcript and add screenshots
Sign in with Pro and open a transcript you own. Take screenshots from the video, then select a PNG, JPEG, or WebP, drag it into the reader, or paste it. Confirm the original video time before saving. The current reading position is suggested.
2. Read with the slideshow
Scroll the transcript to follow the most recent screenshot at or before the visible segment. A screenshot stays active until the next one. Use Previous, Next, or the thumbnails to jump to its transcript position, and click the image to enlarge it.
3. Split the video or save a custom excerpt
Choose Split at time and enter 45:00 to create Part 1 and Part 2. Or give a custom excerpt a name, start, and end. Selecting an excerpt filters the reader, slideshow, counts, copy actions, and downloads without changing the original transcript.
4. Export the transcript and images for AI
Export an AI bundle for the full transcript or selected excerpt. Unzip it, attach transcript.md or transcript.txt and the relevant files from images/ to your chat, then copy prompt.txt and replace its task placeholder. The manifest records the original timing and image mapping.
Times stay connected to the original video
Enter seconds, MM:SS, or HH:MM:SS. A text segment crossing a split stays whole in the earlier part. The last screenshot before an excerpt is included as opening visual context and marked as carried into the excerpt. Text-only transcripts retain their existing exports.
Screenshots stay on this browser and device
Images are stored only in this browser on this device and are not uploaded to YT Summary. They survive reloads but do not sync to other browsers or devices. Clearing site data, private browsing, or browser storage cleanup can remove them. Export a ZIP backup before relying on this collection. Excerpt definitions are saved to your account.
Screenshot limits
Add one screenshot at each timestamp: up to 50 screenshots and 100 MiB per transcript. Each image may be up to 10 MiB and 20 megapixels. Use readable screenshots and export only the images relevant to your question.
Frequently asked questions
Can other people see my screenshots?
Screenshots and saved excerpt definitions remain private, even when the underlying transcript is public.
Are screenshots extracted from the video automatically?
No. You take and add the screenshots yourself. This version does not include automatic frame extraction, OCR, captions, or PDF export.
Does this replace the existing transcript tool?
No. The existing transcript reader and text exports remain available. Pro adds the visual transcript workflow without charging extra generation quota.
